Households without a toilet facility in Ghana 2021, by defecation point

As of 2021, the majority of households in Ghana without any toilet facility used the bush, open fields, and gutters as their defecation points. This amounted to a total of 1.4 million households. Moreover, around 61 thousand households defecated directly at beaches and into water bodies, while 18.6 thousand households used the chamber pot. Overall, toilet facilities in the country were most lacking among rural communities.
