Bullion, including gold and silver occupied around 40 percent share in the Indian exchanges. Energy commodities such as crude oil and natural gas occupied 36.6 percent, and metals occupied 16.4 percent respectively. Agricultural commodities such as barley, castor seed, coriander, cotton etc. account for just over six percent in commodity exchanges of India.

Major commodity exchanges in India are Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), Indian Commodity Exchange (ICEX) and others.
