During a survey conducted in Brazil in March 2022, more than 80 percent of respondents said social media platforms should delete content featuring fake news as soon as possible. Around 14 percent of the interviewees stated that the companies should leave the content online but flag it as fake, whereas about three percent said social media corporations should not do anything about it. Half a year earlier, more than three out of four respondents stated that the spread of fake news on politicians and the Supreme Court justices threatened democracy in Brazil.
