According to a survey conducted in South Korea from late 2020 to early 2021, around 90.5 percent of doctors who were raised in the Gyeongbuk province of South Korea stated that they now practiced medicine elsewhere. In contrast, around 76 percent of doctors raised in the city of Gwangju stayed to practice there. Apart from Gwangju, only Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and the province of Jeonbuk retained a majority of the doctors who grew up there.
