Based on a survey carried out in May 2021, 74.3 percent of the adult population of Germany heard of crowdfunding, and 44.4 percent knew what crowdfunding was in 2021. Both of these numbers were slightly higher than in 2020, when 73.6 percent of the people heard of crowdfunding, and 44 percent knew what it was about. Between 2015 and 2021, there was a gradual increase both in the number of people in Germany who heard of crowdfunding, and who had a general understanding of it.
