Under current climate policies, Ghana would face a GDP loss of 23 percent by 2050 and a shrinkage of over 70 percent by 2100 due to climate change. According to the source's estimates, in a scenario of limiting temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius, the damage to Ghana's economy would stand at a GDP reduction of 16 percent by 2050 and 39 percent by 2100. The estimates did not consider potential adaptation measures that could alleviate the economic loss.

Current climate policies are projected to lead to global warming of about three degrees Celsius in 2100.
According to the source, estimates are "based on an econometric model that is
based on the relationship between GDP growth and temperature, without accounting for the possible impacts of extreme events. Incorporating climate extremes such as droughts, floods or storms that could have an even more detrimental impact on economic performance".
The source also adds: "It is also worth keeping in mind that no adaptation measures which could potentially alleviate some of the damage are incorporated here".
