In September 2022, a little more than half of the French population (52 percent) considered the far-right Rassemblement National party led by Marine Le Pen to be a xenophobic party. However, the xenophobic stigma attached to the Rassemblement National, while still present, has been declining in recent years.
In the first round of the 2022 presidential elections, the party founded by Jean-Marie Le Pen received more than 23 percent of the votes cast.
