In France, legislative elections determine the representatives sitting in the lower chamber of Parliament, known as the National Assembly. Under the Fifth Republic, all legislative elections have been held under the two-round majority system except for the 1986 elections.
While the number of votes cast for the Front National (now Rassemblement National) declined in the first round of 2017 compared to 2012, the number of votes cast in the second round almost doubled. The party's score in the second round of the legislative elections on June 19, 2022, was more than twice that recorded in 2017.

The National Rally was called National Front until 2018. It was chaired by Jean-Marie Le Pen from its creation to 2011, then by his daughter Marine Le Pen.
