Distribution of young households in Spain 2004-2019, by tenure type
The share of young households in Spain that rent their home has been steadily increasing since 2012, whereas the share of young owner-occupiers has been decreasing. In 2019, 48 percent of households whose main income earner is between 16 and 29 years old were renting their homes, compared to 26 percent in 2006, when this share was the lowest.
