As of May 2022, the total assets of large business groups in South Korea subject to mandatory disclosure requirements amounted to about 2,618 trillion South Korean won, up from about 2,336 trillion South Korean won in the previous year. The number of these large business groups and their member companies subject to disclosure requirements has increased in recent years. The disclosure requirements aim, among other things, to make information about large corporations available, thereby strengthening their transparency and sense of responsibility.

Under South Korea's Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act, the Fair Trade Commission designates a business group as subject to disclosure if the total assets of the business group amount to five trillion South Korean won or more.
1,000 South Korean won equals 0.76 U.S. dollars or 0.70 euros as of September 2023.
