As of May 2022, there were 76 large business groups subject to mandatory disclosure requirements in South Korea. The number of these large business groups and their member companies subject to disclosure requirements has increased in recent years. The disclosure requirements aim, among other things, to make information about large corporations available, thereby strengthening their transparency and sense of responsibility.

Under South Korea's Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act, the Fair Trade Commission designates a business group as subject to disclosure if the total assets of the business group amount to five trillion South Korean won or more.
