In 2020, 300 million doses of class II vaccines were released in China. The number is over 75 percent higher than the figure in 2013. Although the release volume has dropped significantly in 2016 and 2017 due to the 2016 illegal vaccine scandal in Shandong province, the number picked up again in 2018 and is expected to develop further. Class II vaccines are vaccines not covered by the mandatory programs of the government. Popular class II vaccines include HPV, Varicella, and rabies vaccines.
