Since 1972, major transport sector projects have been carried out in Nigeria. Among these, 36.83 million Units of Account (UA), the highest amount, was committed to the Lekki Toll Road Project, approved in 2008. This project involved the development and widening of the existing 49.5-kilometer Lekki-Epe expressway and the installation of toll plazas. Moreover, around 34 million UA were committed to the Rural Access & Mobility Project, which was planned to be completed in December 2015, having been approved in July 2007. According to the source, this project aimed at building an adequate, low-cost, safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient transport system.
