In 2020, impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, pharmaceutical companies in China released more than 55 million doses of flu vaccines, representing an increase of more than 80 percent from the previous year. The number of manufacturers increased from six to eight in 2020, with Hualan Biological Engineering and Sinovac producing more than 70 percent of the overall production volume.
