Australia is the country with the largest number of green hydrogen plants in the world. As of 2022, there were 96 such facilities in the country. Solar photovoltaic is the greatest contributor to Australia's renewable power production, with some 15.7 terawatt hours generated from small-scale solar PV plants, compared with 8.1 terawatt hours generated via large-scale solar PV plants. Australia is expected to see some of the lowest levelized costs for producing green hydrogen by 2050 due to the abundance of solar and wind resources.
