According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2021, around 74 percent of women and 68 percent of men who had attempted suicide reported that they had suffered from a mental health problem at one point in their lives. Among women, around 60 percent had struggled with a depressive disorder, while among men nicotine dependence was the most common mental disorder.
