On March 31, 2024, there were 50 critical care (CC) beds in England occupied with patients who had tested positive for COVID-19. The number of critical care beds occupied with COVID patients peaked in England on January 22, 2021 when 4,096 patients required critical care treatment.

Since June 1, 2023, the data for the number of non-COVID and unoccupied critical care beds has been omitted in the publications. Data for March 13, 2021 has been omitted due to erroneous reporting on that day. There seems to be no explanation from the source as to the reason for the spike of occupied CC beds of non-COVID patients on December 27, 2021.
