In 2022, Nigeria scored 4.58 points on the Positive Peace Index (PPI) for low levels of corruption. This put the country on a low state of positive peace in terms of efficient allocation of resources, enhancement of confidence and trust in institutions, and improvement in business efficiency and national competitiveness. According to the index, a PPI of one point represents a very high level of peace in a country. Globally, Nigeria ranked 135th in the 2022 PPI, which uses eight pillars to measure the level of positive peace in 163 countries.

''The Positive Peace Index (PPI) measures the level of Positive Peace in 163 countries. The PPI is composed of 24 indicators that capture the eight Pillars of Positive Peace. Each indicator was selected based on the strength of its statistically significant relationship with the Global Peace Index.''
''In societies with high levels of corruption, resources are inefficiently allocated, often leading to a lack of funding for essential services, which in turn can lead to dissatisfaction and civil unrest. Low corruption can enhance confidence and trust in institutions as well as improve the efficiency of business and the competitiveness of the country.''
The PPI score ranges from 1 to 5, where 1 is the highest.
