According to a survey of social media users in Italy, WhatsApp was the most used messenger and chat app as of 2022, with virtually all respondents reporting engaging with the Meta-owned app. Telegram followed, with almost seven in 10 respondents reporting using the instant messaging platform to communicate. Video and voice calling platform Discord was used by approximately 20 percent of Italian users as of the examined period.
