Africa received around 73 billion U.S. dollars in climate finance flows between 2016 and 2019. This corresponded to an annual average of 18.5 billion dollars in climate-related development finance. The African continent had a share of 26 percent in the global climate finance flows in the period, ranking as the second-highest beneficiary worldwide, just behind Asia.
