The results of the first round of the Colombian 2022 presidential elections, held on May 29, 2022, led to a second ballot between the two most voted candidates: Gustavo Petro (Pacto Histórico) and Rodolfo Hernández (Liga de Gobernantes Anticorrupción), who received 8.53 and 5.95 million votes, respectively. The left-wing coalition Pacto Histórico was the most voted option in 20 electoral districts and obtained its best result in the department of Chocó, where 72.44 percent of voters opted for Gustavo Petro as the next president and Francia Márquez as vice-president. On the other hand, Liga de Gobernantes Anticorrupción won in 12 electoral districts and was particularly popular in Santander, whose capital, Bucaramanga, was led by Hernández from 2016 to 2019.
