Monkeypox cumulative confirmed cases in non-endemic countries May 2022
Since May 2022, cases of monkeypox from non-endemic countries have been reported to the WHO. During the first 10 days of May, there was only one confirmed case of monkeypox in non-endemic countries. However, until May 26, the number increased to 334. Monkeypox is endemic to some African countries and usually appeared outside this region only when linked to travelers. The most recent outbreak, mostly in some Western countries, has so far shown no evidence of travel links to endemic countries.
