
Use of fertilizers in agriculture in Africa 2021, by country
The usage of fertilizers in agriculture in Africa varied greatly among countries. In 2021, Egypt used around 414 kilograms of fertilizer per hectare, the highest amount in the continent. On the other hand, South Sudan and the Central African Republic consumed 0.02 and 0.23 kilograms of fertilizer per hectare of cropland area, respectively. The use of fertilizers in Africa averaged at around 25.6 kilograms per hectare of cropland area, a very low figure compared to the world average of about 118.6 kilograms that year.
