According to an August 2021 survey, Democrats in the United States were more likely than their Republican counterparts to believe that social media made it easier to facilitate the spread of harmful content. The most significant disparity surrounded misinformation, with 96 percent of Democrats believing that social media made spreading misinformation easier, compared to only 83 percent of Republicans who thought the same.
