A survey held in the United States in the final quarter of 2021 investigating the impact of COVID-19 on newsrooms across the country found that 18.7 percent had suffered budget cutbacks as a result of the pandemic. A further 35.6 percent said that the coronavirus outbreak led to permanent physical changes to newsrooms, and 32 percent had staff working remotely more than in person in newsrooms.

The survey was conducted among 1,780 operating, non-satellite television stations. Valid responses came from 1,336 television stations.
