A strong story and believable characters were the most important elements for immersive games according to U.S. gamers. A December 2021 survey amongst gamers in the United States found these two elements ranked first, with a believable story coming in third as 33 percent of respondents rating this as an important factor. The most popular video gaming genres in the United States were action and action-adventure games, which lend itself well to storytelling.
