Many lawmakers seeking reelection in the United States 2022 midterm elections are dependent on money raised by Political Action Committees (PACs). The top six Democrats were reliant on PAC money for more than three quarters of their total fundraising amounts. David Scott of Georgia is nearly 10 percent more reliant on PAC money than the next highest, Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri.
In U.S. politics, a PAC is an organization that gathers campaign contributions from members and donates those funds to campaigns for the purpose of electing or defeating a candidate running for office. Most PACs represent business, or ideological interests.
