According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2023, around 46 percent of respondents stated that they had purchased in-game money or items for PC games. This represents an increase from the previous year. From 2020 onwards, there have been large increases in PC gamers engaging in microtransactions. Now however, these figures have returned to pre-pandemic numbers.
