In 2022, the number of passengers that traveled on local public transport services in Germany amounted to 10 billion. After years of constant growth, the German public transit passenger traffic experienced a sharp drop of around 30 percent in 2020 caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but began to recover in 2022.
