Women in employment by economic sector in Tanzania 2009-2019

Agriculture absorbed roughly 67 percent of the employed women in Tanzania in 2019, a little less than in the previous year. The sector remained the primary source of employment for Tanzanian women, although a gradual shift towards other economic sectors has emerged in the last decade. In 2019, 30 percent of the female workers were engaged in the services, against 22 percent in 2009.
