As of 2019, it was estimated that around 9.2 percent of children in the United States aged 5 to 17 years had at some point in their lifetime lived with someone who was mentally ill or depressed. At that time, 21.6 percent of children with a disabiltiy had lived with someone who was mentally ill or depressed compared to 7.5 percent of children without a disability.
