In 2023, natural gas demand in Nigeria reached around 18.7 billion standard cubic meters. This increased from approximately 13 billion standard cubic meters in the preceding year and was the highest volume since 2000.

Overall, the country had proven natural gas reserves of approximately 5.9 trillion standard cubic meters as of 2023.
