Between 2010 and 2021, the number of beds in oncology wards in China more than doubled, exceeding 270,000 in 2021. During the same period, the demand for cancer treatments also surged dramatically in the country, with the number of new cancer cases exceeding 4.5 million in 2020. The capacity of cancer treatment services varied significantly between regions, with the provinces of Henan, Shandong, and Jiangsu having the highest number of beds in cancer wards.
