Most of future oil and gas production is set to commence in the Middle East. As of 2022, hydrocarbon projects with a scale of nearly 33 billion barrels of oil equivalent had been financially committed to in the Middle East. This was followed by Russia, at some 22.6 billion barrels. State-owned enterprises such as Saudi Aramco and Gazprom are some of the largest oil and gas companies based on short-term expansion plans.
