In March 2022, members of the European Union (EU) exported goods worth 3.24 billion euros to Russia, down 55 percent from the same month of the previous year. Merchandise exports from Germany, which was Russia's leading import partner in the EU, reached 983.5 million euros in March 2022. The export value decreased in the aftermath of international sanctions imposed on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine that started in February 2022.
