In 2022, Germany's expenditure in research and development (R&D) within the chemical industry amounted to more than 4.5 billion euros. This represented roughly half of chemical industry R&D investments in the EU that year. Meanwhile, France's chemical industry R&D investment added up to some 2.68 billion euros.
