As of June 2024, non-performing loans (NPLs) and advances to small and medium non-financial corporations owned by European banks amounted to almost 113.8 billion euros. This was the segment with the highest volume of NPLs. In contrast, the value of non-performing mortgages was lower than for any other type of loan considered here. This is significant, especially after considering that European banks owned more mortgages than any other type of loan by value.
