Young men in Spain have more traditional views of romantic relationships than their female counterparts, as shown in a survey carried out in 2021. A considerably larger share of male youngsters agreed with statements that normalize jealousy as a proof of love, checking their partners' cell phones, or believing that relationships take away part of one's freedom. On the other hand, more than 76 percent of surveyed women completely agreed that, in a relationship, it is essential that each one has its own space, a share that fell to 62.2 in the case of men.

Only figures for "completely agree" (grades ranging from 7 to 10 in a scale from 0 to 10) were taken into account.
The original question was phrased as follows: "De las siguientes afirmaciones, ¿nos puedes decir hasta qué punto estás de acuerdo con
cada una de ellas? Utiliza una escala de 0 a 10, en la que 0 es “nada de acuerdo” y 10 “totalmente
de acuerdo."
