On April 24, 2022, Emmanuel Macron was elected to a second term during the final round of the French presidential election against Marine Le Pen. News apps recorded a traffic increase as many French people went online to access the results. Le Monde was the most visited news site with around 2.6 million visits on election night, and 1.9 million the following day.
