In the Netherlands, women have received PhDs in exact sciences systematically lower than men and lower than other scientific fields, with only 10.7 percent in 1991 and 34.7 percent in 2022. The field with the highest share of PhD holder was medical sciences, with around 62.6 percent of PhD receivers being female.
