During a survey carried out in Mexico at the end of August 2021, more than half – 53 percent – of respondents said the state was not doing enough to protect journalists at work. Little more than one-third (36 percent) of the interviewees disagreed. That same year, Mexico was the Latin American country where most journalists were killed.
