As of March 2022, the Russian government allocated 496 billion Russian rubles to stimulate the labor market following the decision of major international companies to suspend their operations in Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Furthermore, an estimated 317.2 billion Russian rubles was planned to be spent on administering benefits for those who might be out of employment after these companies leave. The total financial assistance to the economy suffering from Western sanctions amounted to approximately one trillion Russian rubles.
