Ghana is a leading producer of cocoa beans in Africa and worldwide. The farm product is processed locally in Ghanaian factories. In the 2018/2019 crop year, Cargill Ghana Limited accounted for over 26 percent of the locally processed cocoa beans in Ghana, while Niche Cocoa Industries Limited represented 17.31 percent of the total. Another leading local cocoa processing company was Barry Callebaut Limited, which processed slightly over 16 percent of the beans.
