In a 2022 study, the highest share of respondents stated that sustainability was slightly important to them when purchasing clothing, at 39 percent. This was followed by just under a third of consumers, who were neutral when it came to the sustainability of apparel. Only three percent of respondents did not find sustainability at all important when deciding which fashion items to buy.
