The majority of Japanese consumers ate sweets and desserts weekly, according to a survey conducted in March 2024. The largest share, over 23 percent, stated to eat confectioneries on two to three days a week.
The Japanese market comprises a savory snack segment and a sugar-based confectionery segment, which also includes traditional sweets (wagashi).
