Bed occupancy in game lodges (accommodations inside national parks and game reserves) in Kenya decreased to 251,500 in 2020, down from 939,700 in the previous year. The reduction was attributed to an overall decline in the number of tourists in the country due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. In 2020, Kenyan national parks and reserves registered a little over one million visits, around 65 percent less than the pre-pandemic level.
