In 2024, the value of equity crowdfunding deals concluded in Japan amounted to almost 2.4 billion Japanese yen. Funds raised in exchange for stocks amounted to around 1.8 billion yen. Figures peaked in 2021, when the total amount of money raised through equity crowdfunding reached more than 3.7 billion yen. Equity crowdfunding is a type of alternative fundraising. Through online platforms, it allows businesses to raise funds from a large number of investors in exchange for unlisted shares.
