Physical mobility of elderly in rural India 2017-18, by gender

According to the Population Census of India 2011 and the National Sample Survey, a higher share of the male elderly population living in the rural areas were physically mobile in 2017. A similar trend was observed with the confined-to-home category, where about five percent of the men were confined to their homes versus six percent of women.
