An online survey conducted in the United States in March 2022 found that the most common reason internet users did not own a virtual reality headset was due to lack of interest in the technology, with 56 percent of respondents saying this was a major reason for not owning one. Additionally, 46 percent of respondents said that cost was a major issue, and almost a third reported to not have the compatible hardware.
