Abstention rate for presidential election first round in France 2022, by occupation

In France, the first round of the presidential elections took place on Sunday, April 10, 2022, and more than one in four French people did not vote. Among workers, this proportion even rises to one third. Retired people, on the other hand, were the most mobilized, with an abstention rate of less than 20 percent. While the social factor plays an important role in abstention, age is also a determining parameter in understanding the logic of this phenomenon: more than 40 percent of people under 35 years old abstained.
